Winds of Change Blowing in Buffalo

Just one day after trading was prounounced to be open by Commissioner Shuck, Buffalo Sabres General Manager Luke Wile made some shocking revisions to their 2010-2011 roster.

"Obviously the teams knows how I feel about our effort in the final three games of the series vs Atlanta. On paper we have twice the team that the trashers do, but we got out worked. It's not acceptable."

The Sabres lost first ballot Hall of Famers G Martin Brodeur and D Scott Niedermeyer to unrestricted free agency.

In efforts to fill the void, the Sabres went out and acquired two All Star Dmen. First, Sergei Gonchar from the Detroit Red Wings for young rising star Kris Letang. The Sabres also acquired servicable dman Rob Scuderi and a pick in that transaction.

"I'm extremely happy to be in Buffalo. All that I have heard about this organization makes me very optimistic. Detroit was a first class club, but it was time for change." regarded Gonchar.

The bigger transcation which made waves around the league was superstar Jeff Carter and Buffalo 1st round pick in 2011 for Mark Streit and Tomas Plekanec. With Streit only set to make 1M over the next 3 seasons, and Plekanec only 1.3M over the next 3 season it was clear this was a move which would allow the Sabres to get creative with their roster. However, Plekanec's stay in Buffalo was short lived as he was then promptly dealt for Hurricane's star Jason Spezza who was retraded to SJ for Sniper Alexander Semin.

"Semin is a bonifide superstar snipe" said potential linemate Anze Kopitar.

"As soon as he sees mesh, it's in the back of the net." exclaimed former Olympic teammate Sergei Gonchar.
